There are two types of periodic servicing options

which cover 2016 Model Year Ford Trucks.

  • Smart Engine Maintenance
  • Standard Mechanic Maintenance

Smart Engine Maintenance uses the data collected by your vehicle’s sensors to calculate the age of the engine oil in the engine control unit (ECU). The system alerts you when it’s time to service your engine.

Standard Mechanic Maintenance provides periodic maintenance based on your vehicle’s mileage, engine hour counter or usage time (whichever occurs first).

The mechanical maintenance intervals should not exceed the periods stated below. This is to help protect both you and your vehicle, and to maintain its resale value.

Filtres à air et à huile

  • For primary filter replacement periods, always check the warranty and service manual.
  • Only use oil and air filters approved by Ford.

Ajouter de l'huile

  • Do not add oil until the oil level has fallen below the min. mark.
  • Avoid adding too much oil, making sure that the oil level does not cross the max. mark.
  • Add oil when the oil level indicator lights up.

Engine

  • Make sure your vehicle has a safety system that stops the starter motor from working when the vehicle is in gear.
  • Follow the instructions in the manual on starting the engine.
  • After starting the vehicle, do not rev the engine until the oil pressure has risen.
  • For the best traction results, make sure that you use your vehicle within the green zone of the revolution counter (1050-1600 RPM).
  • Before you stop the engine, keep it running idle for about a minute to make sure the turbo charge unit is well oiled.
  • For automatic transmission vehicles, try to drive using the automatic mode as much as possible.

Fuel Injection Pump

  • Ensure that your vehicle’s fuel injection pump settings have been set by the factory and sealed.
  • Do not allow anyone except approved Ford Trucks service experts to change or replace it.

Brakes

  • Empty the fluid from air tanks every day.

Differential Lock

  • Contact your service centre if your vehicle’s differential lock is not turned in and the differential lock lights are lit.
  • Do not use the differential lock at speeds above 20 km/h.

Differential Oil Change

  • Before raising the cab, make sure the hand brake is engaged, the vehicle is in neutral and that the hood of the vehicle is open.

Fuel

  • Your vehicle’s engine has been designed to work with EN590 quality EURO DIESEL. Using cheaper fuel can damage the engine and its parts. Furthermore, using cheaper fuel shortens the lifespan of our engines. To avoid any fuel related issues, use EN590 quality EURO DIESEL.

Urea

  • Ford Trucks with Euro 5 and Euro 6 emissions ratings have a SCR system. When filling, only use urea which complies with DIN 70070 / ISO 22241-1 standards. Do not add any other chemicals to the urea storage unit.

Note: For any repair, maintenance, servicing or part replacements, we recommend that you visit any of our extensive network of official service locations which use genuine Ford parts and services. Maintenance intervals may differ by market.
